If you need to register a domain name, here's some important information: ICANN (the international body that regulates domain registration) received 47 applications to provide new top level domain names, with over 200 proposed endings in all. We will be offering to register new Top Level Domain (TLD) name extension options as soon as they are available; feel free to bookmark our site as an update reference ... here is the final list of new extensions (suffixes) approved as of November, 2000:

.biz – This is a general purpose TLD that is unrestricted (available shortly).
.info – This is a general purpose TLD that is unrestricted (available NOW).
.name – This is a general purpose TLD intended for personal use. The application is not entirely clear how they will handle new registrations. The application does state that they are securing all second-level domains, which will contain “family” names. Although AeroHOST is accepting applications for submission within this new TLD, we may only be able to submit third level domains. We are planning to work with the registry to see how these are going to be processed. Please be aware of potential problems when registering in this TLD. AeroHOST may choose to allow customers to transfer .name applications to one of the other new TLDs.
.pro – This is general purpose, yet restricted to professionals only. AeroHOST fully expects that we will have to contact all customers who apply for this TLD to get additional information from you that qualifies for this TLD. AeroHOST will continue to keep up with what information is necessary and we will notify you well in advance for you to be able to provide the proper information with your application.
.aero – This is a special purpose TLD that will be restricted to qualified applicants only.
.coop – This is a special purpose TLD that will be restricted to qualified applicants only.
.museum – This is a special purpose TLD that will be restricted to qualified applicants only.
